Hey guys! Welcome to this week’s episode. I’m doing something a bit unusual. And I’m kind of embarrassed because I’m not a “promotional” type of person, but I am just too excited to not share this huge announcement. My Hell Yeah! Life® Planners are here! Now I’m not going to just talk about them without giving you some time management tips. But let me, first, tell you the story and then the tips.

The Story of the Planners

In 2016, I was on the hunt for a business planner. But I wasn’t interested in just a daily planner. I needed something that helped me build my business, stay of focused, keep all of my ideas in one place, and was not date or year specific. I settled on a planner that did all of that and was very happy. But (like all of the previous planners), there were things I didn’t use, things I didn’t like, and not enough of other things.

Overall, I loved the planner, though. However, I wished I could find the perfect planner that fit me like a glove. Then an idea hit me—the reason I couldn’t find the perfect planner is because planners one-size fits all. They might be topic focused but not necessarily personality focused. We communicate, process, and see the world through our unique personality. That revelation led to the next one—I am a personality expert and can make planners based on personality!

Seriously, personalities are my wheelhouse. I use my expertise ALL of the time with my business clients, mentoring clients, and even branding work. I am extremely aware of the strengths of each personality and their weaknesses. I know saying, “No,” is really hard for the S personality (what I call the Helper), shutting the data gate is tough for the C personality (the Contemplator), organizing scattered thoughts and getting stuff done is a challenge for the I personality (the Motivator), and having fun instead of working is difficult for the D personality (or the Achiever).

On top of that each, personality has different goals for a planner. Sure all want to keep track of to-do’s but an Achiever just wants to get straight to the tasks at hand and will often ignore the first part of the planner work. A Contemplator needs a way to process data and make decisions. A Helper needs a weekly check in to make sure they are gracefully saying, “No,” and thinking well of themselves. And an I needs a check in to make sure he or she is listening to those around them and not avoiding or dismissing what others need from them.

Hell Yeah! life coaching intensives

In addition, I’ve gotten many great tools and knowledge on creating habits from conducting coaching intensives with Coach Greg McNeil plus my own practices that have helped many others create the life they want to live on their own terms or what I call their Hell Yeah! Life! If it’s not a hell yeah, it’s a hell no! :D So I literally put my system of accomplishing whatever I set my mind to in these planners and added video training to help you along the way. These are not just planners to help you mark off your to-do’s. These planners are to help you strategically and scientifically overcome obstacles and distractions (focus), decide what is big, little, or next (set goals), improve your well-being, and equip you with all you need to do everything you want!

Best Features

There’s a lot of science on how beneficial paper planners are and literally writing down stuff. I’ll be doing more blog posts on that and ore in the future. But for now, I want to leave you with the best benefits of my planners (the ONLY planners based on YOUR personality) before giving you some tips.

  • Not date or year specific. This is important because a date or year puts pressure on you versus allowing you to focus on what you are wanting to achieve in your own timeframe. You can use the planner for one year or two or three. It’s up to you. Ideally, using it every week will get you to your goals. But there’s no pressure. It took me a year-and-a-half to use my first business planner. And I really appreciated no date or year pressure.

  • Loose-leaf pages. Instead of being bound, the planner is looseleaf and comes with a six-ring A5 notebook of your choice, which is approximately 6 x 8 inches in size. You can throw it in your purse or bag easily. Once you’re done for the year, you can purchase the inside pages at a discounted subscription price. You can also purchase the insides from the start at a discounted price and buy your own notebook. The biggest benefit of looseleaf to me is I can move pages around if I want or take them out and copy down some of my tasks from the week prior instead of having to flip back and forth. We have different colors of notebooks for you to choose from.

  • Week-at-a-glance. Everything is organized into your top goal for the week, your Big tasks to accomplish that goal, your Little tasks, your Next tasks, and Other tasks. Everything goal-oriented is in Big and the Little tasks can be related to your goal or other stuff that is important to get done that week. Next is to get those next to-do’s out of your head so you don’t forget. And other tasks are all the other things unrelated to your week’s goal that you need or want to get done.

  • Worksheets and training. Each planner has worksheets specific to each personality that will help you in your journey plus there’s video training, a tutorial, time management training, personality styles training, a happiness recipe, a three-to-thrive tutorial to help you organize knowledge, skill, and personality strengths to accomplish your goals, and more.

You can go to www.sherriannewilson.com/hell-yeah-life-planners to take the quiz to see which planner you need and learn more. I have found vendors to supply my notebooks and am on a constant search for even better ones so check back regularly. However, be patient with me as I learn the vendor thing because it has been the most challenging part of developing these planners! But I think I figured it out.

Tips

With all of that said, let me give you a few tips:

  1. I always focus on one goal for 90 days. It can be a professional or personal goal. I write it down and then decide how I will reward myself for accomplishing it. However, I also give myself grace if I don’t get it accomplished in 90 days (not from procrastinating but underestimating how long it would take).

  2. I then take that goal and decide what knowledge and skill I might need to accomplish it plus raise awareness on any personality constraints I have that might sabotage me. I then build in knowledge and skill development into my weekly tasks.

  3. I then include two tasks to get me started and put those under Big in my planner. I do those before anything else. This frees me from the stress and guilt of avoiding the ONE BIG THING I need to do to get me closer to my 90-Day Goal.

  4. Then each day I include at least one task that gets me closer to my goal and work on it for at least 20 minutes without interruption. No phone interrupts (including self-interrupting), emails, etc. I laser-focus (and have been known to set a time). This is my secret sauce to getting so much done.

That’s it! I hope you’re as excited as I am! And I hope that these tips help you as much as they have me. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to text me at 575-693-6702. That’s my personal number and I’d be happy to help!
