How I Use My Microdermabrasion Derma Roller
Transcript:
I was skeptical about using a derma roller at first and probably never would have, but I’d bought Rodan and Fields REDEFINE Intensive Renewing Serum that recommended using a derma roller before applying the serum. From what I understand, it helps the serum really get in there and do its thing (plus some other benefits that I don’t remember). I decided to save money and find one that has the same size needles (0.25 mm) on Amazon. I found the DermaShine for $16.98. It has the roller with a head on it and then three replacement heads.
Since using the derma roller with the serum, I’ve definitely seen a change in my skin, especially in diminishing wrinkles in my forehead and sagging jowls. I’m not saying you need to use Rodan and Fields serum. I’m sure there are other great ones. I’ve just had great results with their products. I am curious about the effectiveness of Oil of Olay’s products and might try some of them soon.
My Derma Roller Regimen
I do this once a week or every two weeks depending on my schedule and budget for that month. I re-use my heads 2-3 times before replacing.
I pour a small amount of alcohol over my derma roller head even if a brand new one and let it dry for about 10 minutes.
I wash my face with Basis Sensitive Skin Bar.
I apply one drop of Young Living Tea Tree oil and some Witch Hazel on a cotton ball and swab my face twice to make sure I have all makeup removed.
I then use my Derma Roller by rolling it back and forth, up and down, and diagonal over forehead, temples, cheek bone area, lower cheeks, chin, above the mouth and nose avoiding the eye area (see my Instagram Stories for my entire process).
Once I complete the microdermabrasion, I rinse the head with alcohol again and put it up.
I apply my serum and let it soak in.
And then I apply my favorite moisturizer, Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil, and let that soak in.
And then I finish everything off with REDEFINE Overnight Restorative Cream, which I love!
I usually do my derma roller regimen the night before a day off so I don’t have to apply makeup the next day. And I definitely use sunscreen. I do all the time anyway, but for sure after using my derma roller.
The prices for all of my products are in my blog, “How I Finally Got Rid of My Acne,” except for my overnight restorative cream. That’s $80 retail. It lasts a long time!
